August - Annual Outing.

Children's Summer Activities at March Museum

Organised by the Greater Fens Museums Partnership

Fun learning for children aged 5 - 15 (children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Details below.

Admission £1.50 per session, adults free.

Green Men and other Marsh Spirits

Listen to the old stories of the Fens, tales of Tiddy Mun and the Green Coaties, spirits of the Great Fen, protectors of the Fen people. Make a spirit mask to keep.

The Curious World of the Butterbumps of the Bogs

Investigate the wildlife of the Fens before they were drained. Learn about 'devil's darning needles', 'old nogs' and 'butterbumps'and other wonderful wildlife.

Thursday 12th August 10am to 12 noon

Samuel and the Worm

A strange and ghostly tale from the haunted Fens, a story of giant worms, ghosts and dead hands that will amaze you! Make a giant worm or puppet ghost.

These summer activities all take place in the Museum at the times indicated but please book through the Greater Fens Museum Partnership via Kings Lynns Museum on the telephone number above.

 

September 10th - David Barnard 'Well Creek Trust', Well Creek runs from Outwell Basin to Salters Lode and connects the Middle Level River and Drainage system to the Great Ouse and thence, via Denver Sluice to Ely, St Ives, Huntingdon and Cambridge (and vice versa).

October 8th - Colin Lattimore 'Long case clocks'

November 12th - AGM followed by Edna Stacey 'More March History'

December 10th - Members punch and pies evening.

All meetings will be held in St Peter’s Church Hall (opposite the Museum) on Friday evenings starting at 7.30 p.m., unless otherwise stated.

Admission is £2.50 but for Members of the Museum Society the charge is £1.50

Refreshments are included.
